Royal Central’s Top 5 News Reports

Blogger

To celebrate Royal Central’s first birthday today, I run down my top five favourite news reports from the last year.

5. Bones found in Leicester car park confirmed to be Richard III’s

Richard IIIby Martin on 4th February 2013

Many people interested in Royal history were riveted by the news that the University of Leicester thought they had found the bones of King Richard III. This article tells us of the moment they confirmed the bones were the late King’s.

4. The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant!

London Paralympic Games - Day 1by Martin on 3rd December 2012

The moment Buckingham Palace announced the Duchess was expecting her and Prince William’s first child – news the world had been waiting for ever since the Royal Wedding in 2011.

3. The Queen’s horse, ‘Estimate’ wins Gold Cup at Royal Ascot

Queen Ascotby Ellen Couzens on 20th June 2013

Bit of a cheeky one here, this article is mine. But it’s in my list because it was just so exciting to be watching the Queen’s horse win, and to see her reaction live on television! Then an equal thrill for me to be able to post about it so quickly afterwards.

2. Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall meet Doctor Who actor Matt Smith

Doctor Whoby Jordon-Lee on 3rd July 2013

Because it shows how unstuffy this Royal couple can be, with the Prince taking over a Dalek’s voice and saying “Exterminate!”

1. William and Kate ‘very emotional’ as they leave hospital with baby

Of course, I had to include this in my list! The wonderful moment that we saw the new third-in-line to the throne for the very first time.
