The Duke of York is predicting a very happy ending for his younger daughter, Princess Eugenie, and Jack Brooksbank ahead of their marriage this morning. Speaking to ITV’s This Morning, Andrew said that ‘’ I am sure they will be massively in love for the rest of their lives’’.
In a pre-recorded interview, the Queen’s second son spoke about many of the different aspects of this second royal wedding of 2018, revealing that he hadn’t been ‘’intimately’’ involved in the plans and that he’d been taking orders from the women in his lives about the ceremony.
The Duke of York said that Eugenie was ‘’quite decisive’’, backing up comments from her groom who had earlier told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that his bride had been juggling all the different aspects of their big day. However, Prince Andrew also revealed that instructions had come from other parts of the Royal Family when it came to deciding where the wedding would take place. The Queen had told her son that Eugenie’s wedding would take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor.
He told the programme that he didn’t really know what to expect when it came to being father of the bride but he had learned a lesson from his own wedding. His father in law, Ronald Ferguson, had walked in the middle of the aisle during the procession at Westminster Abbey on July 23rd 1986 and had been told to move by the bride to accommodate her dress. Andrew has promised to stay to the left of the aisle on Eugenie’s wedding day, revealing that ‘’ I don’t think many people know much about this dress, I’m led to believe that the train is quite wide’’.
Among the other details of the wedding revealed by Andrew were that he wouldn’t be writing his speech ahead of the day and that he viewed the day as a family event. He acknowledged that the event would involve more guests than the previous royal wedding in May, saying ‘’that’s just the nature of Eugenie and Jack, they have so many friends’’.
But his warmest words were for his daughter and soon to be son in law. Speaking of Jack Brooksbank, the Duke of York said: ‘’he’s an extraordinary young man’’ before adding ‘’he’s perhaps met his match with Eugenie’’. And of his daughter, he had only the highest of praise, saying ‘’she’s got a huge heart’’.
And as for their future together, the Duke of York is sure it will be a breeze for the couple, saying ‘’ it’s wonderful watching them interact, it’s almost like they’re a married couple now’’ before predicting many happy years ahead for them both.
