Lady Gabriella Windsor’s Wedding Dress: romance along classic lines

Tulle and organdie were layered to create a cream and blush effect

It was a closely guarded secret but now we know. Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding dress had caused plenty of speculation ahead of her big day but in the end the only daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent chose a romantic design along classic lines for her marriage to Thomas Kingston at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor on May 18th 2019.

The bride went to Luisa Beccaria for her wedding dress. The design house is already a favourite of Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and has dressed some of the Hollywood’s biggest names, too, including Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman and Madonna. Its social media and website focus on the romantic and dream like silhouettes it aims to create.

That romantic touch was dominant in Lady Gabriella’s gown which was made of tulle and organdie, layered to create a subtle blush effect on the gown. The shaped bodice was covered with a layer of lace, covered with floral embellishments, which was styled into a boat neck and long sleeves designed to give a glove effect.

The slightly flared skirt gave way to a full, circular train which was covered by a veil that extended further and which was secured by the diamond fringe tiara worn by Gabriella’s mother and her paternal aunt, Princess Alexandra, at their own wedding celebrations. Lady Gabriella said it was ”the dress of her dreams”.

The bride carried a bouquet of cream and blush flowers including a rose named ”Ella”, created in her honour.

Her bridal party, including six bridesmaids and three pageboys, wore all outfits by Luisa Beccaria. The girls were in cream dresses with blush underlays and matching sashes. The boys wore cream shirts and knickerbockers.
