Kate behind the camera: Photos taken by the Duchess of Cambridge

The Duchess of Cambridge was beaming on Tuesday when she stepped out with youngsters from Action for Children, to attend a photographic workshop held by the Royal Photographic Society.

The event was timed to coincide with the announcement from Kensington Palace, that Kate, will take over as royal patron for the organisation, a role previously held, by Her Majesty The Queen, for the last 67 years.

While Kate is usually seen in front of the camera, the Duchess, who studied History of Art at St Andrew’s University, is a keen amateur photographer and took photos for her family’s business, Party Pieces, before she joined the Royal Family.

Her talents were revealed to the public by Kensington Palace when a series of seven shots taken by the Duchess during her 2012 tour to Asia were released, all of which can be seen here.

The photos, taken in Borneo, are a mixture of images in black and white and colour, which depict rain forest scenery and an orangutan.

The public has mostly been treated to portraiture taken by the Duchess, who has shared several photographs she has taken of her children.
