Autumnal flowers at St. George’s Chapel for Eugenie and Jack’s wedding

With just hours to go until they say ‘I do’, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have shared more details of the floral decorations for their wedding. And St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, is coming over all autumnal for its second royal wedding of 2018.

The ancient church will be decorated with foliage and flowers from Windsor Great Park which the couple have chosen to reflect the rich colours of autumn. Among the blooms and branches are roses, spray roses, hydrangeas, dahlias and some of the berries of the season. The image shared on the Royal Family Twitter account showed flowers in shades of pink, red, mauve and purple, dotted with deep green leaves.

There will also be some true bursts of autumn colour in the chapel as Eugenie and Jack have also asked for ‘Liquid Amber’ trees to nestle amongst the stone work of St. George’s – this deciduous tree features maple like leaves which fire into shades of purple, orange and crimson as summer fades.

The floral artistry inside St. George’s Chapel is the work of Rob Van Helden who said it was ‘’the greatest privilege and honour to create the flowers’’ adding that ‘’Her Royal Highness has been very involved from the start and has been instrumental in the autumnal theme’’.

Rob Van Helden was born in the Netherlands and moved to the UK over three decades ago, setting up his floristry business from the back of a car before establishing his shops. He has designed floral arrangements for many celebrities including Sir Elton John, Jo Malone and Pierce Brosnan.

The autumnal theme has already been seen in the cake the couple have chosen for their wedding. Sophie Cabot is preparing a red velvet and chocolate cake for the couple, covered in sugar representations of autumn foliage. When cameras were allowed into the kitchens of Buckingham Palace earlier this week to see the final preparations being made, rust coloured ivy leaves and sparkling berries were among the creations ready to go on the cake.

Princess Eugenie of York marries Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor at 11am on October 12th 2018. Royal Central will have full coverage throughout the day.
