Prince Edward and The Countess of Wessex spent the week in Scotland, and the Countess was very busy with numerous pieces to wear.
The Countess of Wessex attended the opening of the Scottish Kirk’s annual gathering, and repeated her Bruce Oldfield outfit worn to Zara and Mike Tindall’s wedding. It is nude in colour, with a wide, open collar on the jacket in a ruched crepe material. The dress is a chiffon material, in the same colour, with a wavy hemline. This time it was worn with a new fascinator, from Jane Taylor Millinery. Her clutch was Sophie Habsburg ‘Paolo’ and shoes were Jimmy Choo ‘Agnes’ pointed heels, tying the colours together.
Sophie opted for an Emilia Wickstead nude and black dress, seen last at a Royal Luxembourg wedding, and a Buckingham Palace Garden Party, where she met Benedict Cumberbatch. Over the dress was a black cropped jacket. Cream pointed ankle strap heels, with nude pink and black hat by Jane Taylor Millinery, and black patent Loewe bag completed her look.
In the afternoon at the Heart and Soul Festival, Sophie got a henna tattoo; she wore a black jacket with cord belt, almost kimono in style, with black ankle-length trousers and snakeskin LK Bennett ‘Maddox’ wedges, with her black pearl earrings deigned by husband Edward. Pictures have unfortunately been very limited.
Sophie chose a black jacket over a black and floral print skirt, paired with her LK Bennett ‘Carla’ heels. She once again chose her Loewe handbag, a piece she has had for over a decade.

A white Alexander McQueen embossed pencil skirt with circular flowers was seen under Sophie’s black military style jacket, with 3/4 sleeves. A tan coloured Michael Kors ‘Berkley’ clutch was seen with the mother-of-two, and she chose her ‘Harley’ LK Bennett’s. The picture shows her earrings well – a black and white pear drop, worn to her wedding.
On The Countess’s wrist was a chunky blue beaded bracelet, which seems to have come from the couple’s tour of the Caribbean a few years ago; Edward also wore a kilt.
Earlier in the day Sophie was in a red DKNY dress and white jacket, with an unusual long deer-head necklace. The jacket had flared sleeves but was simple in design, while the dress had seems down the front, slim fitting with short sleeves. Her hair was left loose; she also wore blue stone drop earrings. A visit to Halle Orchestra in 2013 shows what I believe to be the same outfit.
The Countess changed into an Emilia Wickstead blue coat over a Katherine Hooker ‘Buxton’ dress as seen above; photos of the event were not plentiful however, but the dress has a cowl neck with pleats at the shoulder, with a pale grey print on cream crepe silk satin. Her footwear was LK Bennett ‘Carla’ heels throughout the day and her clutch was Sophie Habsburg, but she changed her necklace to the one with ‘L’ and ‘J’ pendants.

For the couple’s final day in Scotland, Sophie chose a black Alexander McQueen peplum jacket over a Giambattista Valli sleeveless paisley dress in white and black, with scalloped hem. This was teamed with her suede and leather Bruce Oldfield black heels and a black patent Loewe bag. Her earrings were pearls, the pair designed by Edward. There is no picture currently available.
Earlier on the final day, The Countess wore a baby pink Valentino wool ‘Drill Cocoon’ Jacket, which is very simple in design, with a round neckline and 7/8 sleeves. The dress beneath was an Erdem ‘Tali’ fitted dress, with a black cross through the dress and bars along the hem. In the sections created by the cross is a floral print. It is a sleeveless piece, but I am unable to get a picture.
To close the gathering, Sophie changed to wear a black Valentino trench coat with flared skirt; on closer inspection there is floral embroidery on the skirt. Her ‘Harley’ heels made another appearance and Sophie’s hair was tied back. She was seen clutching Jelly Babies away from her husband, who looked mortified that she wouldn’t share!

The Countess of Wessex is certainly trying to show the Duchess of Cambridge how a royal with long hair ought to wear it! Once in a while Catherine’s hair looks like two hunks of dark, heavy stuff pasted to her head. Once in a while she wears a simple pony tail and looks spectacular.
