The Queen has released a statement following the Grenfell Tower Fire.
The Queen paid tribute to the people currently still in the hospital and the relatives of those who have lost loved ones. As well as that, she paid tribute to the bravery of the emergency services and the generosity of the community.
In her statement, she said: “My thoughts and prayers are with those families who have lost loved ones in the Grenfell Tower fire and the many people who are still critically ill in hospital.
“Prince Philip and I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of firefighters and other emergency services officers who put their own lives at risk to save others.
“It is also heartening to see the incredible generosity of community volunteers rallying to help those affected by this terrible event.”
At least 30 people have been confirmed dead in the blaze. It is understood around 70 people are thought to be missing. However, this number is likely to include the 30. Around 600 people were in the building at the time it caught fire in what is believed to have been a tragic accident.
Her Majesty, alongside the Duke of Cambridge, later visited the scene of the fire to meet members of the emergency services as well as residents and representatives from the community.
Grenfell Tower in Kensington set ablaze on Wednesday morning. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have donated funds to help the victims.
Employees of the Borough Market, who just dealt with a terrorist attack, are also helping out with food donations and celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver, is offering free meals to the families affected.
